100 multiple-choice questions, with an answer key, in-depth answer explanations for every question, an answer sheet, strategies for the exam, and an SHSAT Mathematics reference section.
The Specialized High Schools of New York City are publically funded institutions for gifted and talented students. Admission to eight of the Specialized High Schools is solely determined by the score attained on the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). The SHSAT is composed of multiple-choice questions that test a student’s verbal and mathematical skills. The Verbal section has 40 multiple-choice questions and five paragraphs that require a student to determine the correct sentence order for each paragraph. The Mathematics section has 50 multiple-choice questions. The student has 150 minutes to answer all questions on the test. A student must be a resident of New York City and a current eighth grade or first-time ninth grade applicant for the Specialized High Schools to sit for the SHSAT. The Bright Kids™ practice test for the SHSAT can help a student become accustomed to the types of questions found on the actual exam. This book includes one full practice test for the SHSAT, an answer key, in-depth answer explanations for every question on the practice test, an SHSAT mathematics review section, and numerous strategies that a student should know in order to perform well on his or her upcoming exam.
